Every May, the Bury St. Edmunds Festival takes place in venues across the whole town, providing everyone with a variety of indoor and outdoor arts events. From music concerts to film, dance to workshops, talks to theatre, this ten-day period is filled with every kind of entertainment.
The legendary Maly Drama Theatre of St. Petersburg – described by Peter Brook as ‘the finest ensemble theatre in Europe’ – returns to London this spring for a strictly limited engagement for the first time in over a decade. Since its premiere, the production of Uncle Vanya has toured the world, receiving numerous awards and great critical acclaim. Through continuous staging over the past decade, the actors have built up a tremendous emotional rapport, delivering a superbly attuned collaborative performance. Uncle Vanya is performed alongside Life and Fate at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, with both productions in Russian with English subtitles.
The largest and most established annual curated multi-arts festival in England, Brighton Festival is a celebration of music, theatre, dance, circus, art, film, literature, debate, outdoor and family events, which takes place in venues both familiar and unusual in the city of Brighton and Hove in England each May. Now one of Europe’s leading arts festivals, Brighton Festival is known for its ambitious and daring programme that aims to make the most of the city’s distinctive cultural atmosphere, drawing some of the most innovative artists and companies and adventurous audiences from the UK and around the world.
