Celebrating its twentieth year, The Production Company opens its 2018 season with a classic, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma! Chris Parker directs an all-star cast with dynamism, skill and attention to character, creating a fitting tribute to mark the anniversary of a company vital to Melbourne’s musical theatre scene. Get on your wagon and make a beeline for the State Theatre.
Vivid Vivid Sydney, Australia, until June 16
Millions of festival goers are expected to descend on Sydney for the tenth year of the popular Vivid Light Spectacular. The festival includes not only light displays but music shows and “ideas events” running at venues across the city, including Circular Quay, Darling Harbour, the Botanic Gardens, The Rocks, Barangaroo, Walsh Bay, and the Luna Park precinct at Milsons Point.
Opera Opera Holland Park 2018 Season, London, UK, May 29 – July 28
Opera Holland Park is back this summer with a season including performances of Cosi Fan Tutti, Isabeau, and the Royal Ballet School. This year, the festival opens in the champagne-fuelled demimonde of Verdi’s Parisian tragedy, La Traviata, and closes with the fireworks of Strauss’ Viennese backstage comedy, Ariadne auf Naxos, co-produced with Scottish Opera.
