Igniting connections across the globe.

Arts Around the World: March 26-April 1, 2018

By Claire Hammond

With thousands of performances in live entertainment and theatre for you to see this week around the world, here are a few that we think should make the top of your week! Mark your calendars and save the dates.

March 26-April 1, 2018

The Little Mermaid, Georgia, USA, March 28 – April 22

Serenbe Playhouse, known for site-specific performances and immersive theatre, will kick of its year long VOYAGE season with the iconic film – Disney’s The Little Mermaid – coming to life like never before. Travel ‘Under the Sea’ for an adventure the entire family will never forget! The Playhouse’s 9th season will include The Little Mermaid, a world-premiere adaptation of Peter Pan, Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull, and a large-scale production of the Tony-winning musical Titanic.

In The Heights, Sydney, Australia, until April 15

In The Heights, the breakthrough musical from the mastermind behind Hamilton, makes its way to the Hayes Theatre. It’s a musical about many things: immigrant families fighting (and mostly succeeding) to find happiness and financial security, and the difficulty of bridging cultural gaps, and something more universal: the innate need we all have to find a home and a community. This new Sydney production captures that community spirit perfectly thanks to an ensemble made up of musical theatre veterans and relative newcomers.

Angels in America, New York, USA, until July 1

Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes transfers to Broadway’s Neil Simon Theatre following a sold-out London run from the National Theatre. Members of the original London cast, including Tony Award winner Nathan Lane and Academy Award nominee Andrew Garfield reprise their performances in Tony Kushner’s Pulitzer Prize-winning work.
