Pantomime Online: Where To Watch For Christmas 2020

Pantomime Online: Where To Watch For Christmas 2020

With the UK’s traditional pantomime season looking uncertain as December approaches in the midst of ongoing lockdowns, many are opting for the security of online streaming and pre-recorded performances to share with audiences this Christmas.

Live Interactive Panto

Cinderella Live Online

Named as “the world’s first interactive live stream pantomime”, Cinderella incorporates live theatre with virtual sets and an interactive audience for what it calls “the ultimate pantomime experience”. Featuring an array of British soap stars amongst the cast, the show encourages the audience to interact with boos, cheering, and of course, cries of “behind you!”

Tickets are available worldwide, with four shows scheduled between 18 – 24th December enabling audiences to watch from anywhere.

The Santa Show Online

Scunthorpetheatres.co.uk presents Santa’s hugely popular, sell-out show online for 2020, bringing the panto to Zoom via a livestream performance this year.

“There’s nothing Santa loves more than starting the countdown to Christmas by opening the windows of his giant Christmas calendar. But when he tries to begin the countdown this year, disaster – the calendar is broken and all the magical goodies inside have gone missing! Santa needs them to get ready for Christmas… but how is he going to get everything back in time?”

Join Father Christmas, Dotty the Elf, Dasher the Reindeer, Jack Frost, Fairy Twinkle and Pompom the Penguin in a festive, musical, interactive, adventure to help fix the Christmas calendar and get Santa’s Christmas Countdown started!

Plus, during the show, you can post your messages and photographs on The Santa Shows Facebook page – don’t forget to wear your Christmas jumper for the photographs! Father Christmas & friends will be sharing your comments and pictures after the show – Cosmo the Elf will be LIVE, so anything could happen!”

The live performance will take place via Zoom on Sunday 20th December at 2:15pm and will last for 90 minutes. Tickets are on sale now from Eventbrite via the theatre website.

Goldilocks And The 3 Bearz

In another innovative approach, the Basel English Panto Group are performing an online, interactive show this Christmas, titled Goldilocks And The 3 Bearz.

“Loosely based on the well-known children’s story, the panto contains the traditional elements we love – an outrageous Dame, dashing Prince and beautiful Princess, a love triangle and a very nasty villain.

Goldilocks is sent off on a quest to find some Bärlauch. During her search in the woods, she falls into a trap set by her nemesis but finds refuge in a cottage. Little does she know some very woke Bearz own the place.

Led by Goldilocks’ side-kick, her friends and family set off to rescue her and after some intense detective work, the day is saved. A couple of happy endings bring our story to its finale.

The particularity of this year’s panto is that it will be performed virtually. Due to the Covid-19 prevention measures, we invite you to watch our show online from the comfort of your homes.”

Goldilocks And The 3 Bearz is performing on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th December, with tickets available here.

Free pantomimes to stream and watch at home

There are many venues that are generously sharing pre-recorded pantomimes from previous years, and here are just two of our favourites.
