Kendra Augustin was born and bred in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She studied theatre at Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida. In 2013 she moved to New York City and continued training at Stella Adler (Summer Conservatory), Matthew Corozine Studio (Meisner), The Shakespeare Forum (Clown, Stage Violence), The Peoples Improv Theater (Improv, Clown for the Improviser), The Upright Citizens Brigade (Sketch writing, Character) and T. Schreiber (Physical and Devised theatre). Kendra is also a playwright having written ten minute and one -act plays including “Stranger” (Stage Black Festival) “Dying is an Art” (InspiraTO Festival, 365 Women’s Festival, 365 Women A Year Festival at FSU) “Black Star” (LIC One Act Festival, Short Attention Span Festival, Twisted Theatre Festival) and “The Call of the Void” (New Perspectives). Select acting credits include: Florence Mills in “The Three-Mile Limit” (Theater for the New City/by Barbara Khan), Mona in “In The Attic” (Theater for the New City/ by Liz Amadio) Mona in “Philoctetes” (by Sander Gusinow) and as Aphra Behn in “Just Say It Three Times” (by Erin Moughon). In 2015, in response to a lack of acting opportunities but with much training, she and her friend, Patricia Cardona joined forces to create a theatre festival called The Leela NYC Theatre Festival. It still tours the boroughs every once in awhile….
