West End Live Returns To London Outdoors For 2021

West End Live Returns To London Outdoors For 2021 TheatreArtLife

West End Live is set to return for 2021 in September. The free, un-ticketed event is due to take place outdoors at the iconic Trafalgar Square in Central London.

All about West End Live 2021

West End Live will take place on Saturday 18 (between 11am – 5pm) and Sunday 19 September (from 12noon -5pm) on a special outdoor setup hosted at London’s Trafalgar Square. The weekend of shows is completely free to attend, is ticketless, and entry is provided on a first come, first served basis.

The long awaited weekend production will feature a broad and varied array of some of the West End’s top shows that include:

Romeo & Juliet  •  Amélie The Musical  •  Back To The Future The Musical  • The Book Of Mormon  •
The Choir of Man  •  Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella  •  Come From Away  •  Dear Evan Hansen  •  Dreamgirls UK Tour  •  Doctor Who: Time Fracture  •  English National Opera  •  Fantastically Great Women Who Changed The World   •  Disney’s Frozen  •  Grease UK Tour  •  The Great Gatsby  •  Hamilton  •  Heathers The Musical  •  Jersey Boys  •  Les Misérables  •  Disney’s The Lion King  •

Accessibility

The event is also going to be supported with live BSL interpreters throughout, and has a wheelchair accessible viewing area. Access to the area will be managed by a first come, first served basis. As demand for this area is extremely high, the event adheres to a ratio of one access user and one carer.

What to bring

The official West End Live website recommends bringing a few supplies and provisions to remain comfortable, and of course, as the event is in an uncovered, outdoor environment, the hosts suggest also preparing for the ever-unpredictable Great British weather conditions. They explain:

“This is an entirely outdoor event, so dress for the weather! Bring layers and a raincoat if it’s due to be cold & wet and sun cream if it’s going to be hot! You are welcome to bring your own food and soft drinks but there will also be vendors available inside the event. You can also bring your own camp chairs if you want or need to sit.”

Covid safety measures

To keep the event Covid safe, all attendees will need to prove their Covid-19 status despite the event being ticket-free. Using the NHS COVID Pass, those attending will need to simply show the app or print a copy of their information in order to demonstrate their vaccination status, negative test status, or proof of natural immunity.

After going virtual for 2020 after the live production was cancelled, the UK excitedly welcomes the return of West End Live in September of 2021. If you’re unable to attend the events in person, you can catch up with all of the highlights from last year’s virtual shows, as well as follow along with this year’s production in real-time on the West End Live Instagram, Facebook and Twitter channels, and keep an eye on the YouTube channel for highlights from the weekend that will follow.
